SEANFX
just put the finishing touches on a new DVD project for Virtual World
Entertainment, LLC (VWE). VWE
is best known for its Tesla System virtual reality simulators featuring
BattleTech®. With the release of BattleTech®: Firestorm™ and upgrade of
its simulators to Tesla II, VWE realized that updates would be required
for all game segments included in its “Barker” and Training videos.
The project had a few challenges.
It wasn’t as simple as dropping in new footage.
For the training video, redoing many of the attack sequences had to
be planned out and choreographed out much like any other video.
Except instead of actors, we had giant ‘Mechs.

| The
Tesla II simulators are located at finer entertainment venues throughout
the world, including a dozen Dave & Buster’s stores across North
America. The DVD includes new motion graphic treatments and new video
segments captured directly from the new game software.
Dianna Sloyer of Design by D and Tom Peters helped to create the
graphic treatment for a new BattleTech: Firestorm logo that is on the DVD
and 20 foot banners that dawn the attraction at all sites. |

Originally
the project was produced on laserdisc, but with DVD, SEANFX is able to make
it more of a living video project. Sean
McMenemy says "with the convenience of the DVD format we can drop in
new elements and assets as the need arises."
One of the innovative elements of the project was the on location
aspect. We were able to bring our DVD authoring system on location for
authoring and video capture.

original creators of our last barker and training video
were no longer at the company to readily assist us.
Therefore, we were diving into this project with
no prior knowledge of how to go about it.
The changing of mediums from laser disk to DVD
was also intimidating.
However, Sean confidently led us through the
process from start to finish.
Despite our requests for revision after revision,
Sean was always patient and genuinely positive."
